"Servamus - We serve"
Governor of Punjab
1903 - 1907
Rivaz House takes its name from Sir Charles Rivaz, who served as Governor of Punjab from 1903 to 1907. The first House Captain was E.R. Lewis in 1908.
Rivaz House did not have a formal motto until 1935, when the house adopted Servamus (We serve), reflecting a lasting commitment to duty and service.
The house colour is Cambridge Blue, a light blue drawn from the school colours—Light Blue and Dark Blue—symbolising continuity with the wider Cottonian tradition.
A timeless melody celebrating our heritage and unity
In Shimla's tree-crowned grandeur In Cotton's famous School A sky blue banner proudly flies To honour Rivaz' Rule
CHORUS Servamus is the motto Of the boys who wear light blue It means, 'we serve', with honesty And faithfulness and truth.
No matter if the world goes by No matter if some cheer No matter even if they laugh Our House is still held dear.
CHORUS Servamus is the motto Of the boys who wear light blue It means, 'we serve', with honesty And faithfulness and truth.
We don't care what men may say We'll do what we think right And we'll hold to 'Servamus' With all our strength and might. Servamus is the motto Of the boys who wear light blue It means, 'we serve', with honesty And faithfulness and truth.
Sung with pride at house gatherings and school assemblies
