The Co-Curricular Programme
The school actively encourages a huge range of activities which equip the boys with skills which will help them to be accomplished in any field that they enter.
Public Speaking, Debating and Elocution
Debating and elocution are extremely popular and the school trains and polishes boys in the art of public speaking. BCS hosts ‘the Slater Debates’ annually and attract school teams from all over the country to what is regarded as one of the best debating competitions in India
Drama
Drama is very popular at BCS and the whole pupil body joyously participates in inter-house competitions in both English and Hindi. In addition to plays there are a host of other programmes on stage including dance shows. Boys are also trained in operating and maintaining of sound and light equipment.
Music
Music is close to the heart of every Cottonian, not least when they are singing the school song. The boys are taught Indian vocal and instrumental music, western vocal and instrumental music, brass band and choir. The best musicians get selected for the School Band and they play at special occasions throughout the school year.
Art
The school enjoys a strong Art department and the art club allows many boys who haven’t chosen art as a board subject to express themselves.
Academic and Other Interest Clubs
A range of clubs exist to meet the interests and needs of the boys. These range from the Nature Club to the Creative Writing Club and the Quizzing Club.
Spiritual Development
The school by foundation and tradition accords great importance to spiritual growth. The school teaches the students respect for all religions and the morning Chapel service is used to inculcate this. Many religious festivals (both Christian and Hindu) are celebrated together to sensitise the children to various cultures and traditions.
