Cottonians meet the Honourable Chief Minister Mr Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

Bishop Cotton School, Shimla (BCS) welcomed several of Himachal Pradesh’s top officials for an exclusive cricket match on their sports field – one of the highest schoolboy pitches in the world.
The cricket teams of the H.P. Government Administration played the H P Police Force in a friendly match (on Sunday 8 October). CM Mr Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Chief of Police Mr Sanjay Kundu brought along their best cricketers for the relaxing Sunday entertainment together with their families. The match was won by the HP Government Administrators, but ultimately cricket was the winner bringing the community together.
BCS Director bowls to Chief Minister in cricket warm up
There was a great excitement on the second flat as the BCS Director Mr Simon Weale bowled to the Honourable Chief Minister of HP Mr Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu – in the cricket warm up, both are very passionate cricketers. The BCS Sports teachers were umpires for the match – Cricket Coach Mr Lokpal Thakur and Mr Amod Talwalkar.
The Director of Bishop Cotton School, Mr Simon Weale, said ‘Given the great challenges caused by the recent rains and landslides and the hard work required by our dedicated government officials and police, it was a pleasure to welcome both teams for an enjoyable and relaxing game in the sun.’
The Chief Guest at the recent BCS Annual Sports Day – Mr. Vivek Bhatia (I.A.S), Pr. Private Secretary/Special Secretary to Honourable Chief Minister, H.P had been so impressed by the BCS sports field, when he visited the school, he requested for their match to be played in Shimla where all the top officials reside.

The Chief minister especially enjoyed meeting the school band as they put on a special show for his visit.
As a heritage school, many of the traditional routines have been in place since its foundation in 1859 by Bishop George Cotton. Students wake up early for physical training (PT) every day and take part in seventeen sports including shooting, boxing, rock climbing, swimming and obstacles in the school’s forest. BCS boys have recently toured the UK to play cricket and Thailand and Singapore to play football.
