Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, Motivational Guest Lecture
A bright green-suited whirlwind of energy hit Bishop Cotton School, Shimla recently (Friday 17 May 2024), as businessman and creative entrepreneur Shailendra Singh gave a guest lecture to the boys of BCS in the Irwin Hall.
Kapil Dev’s message to BCS boys:
The BCS boys, from Class 8 upwards, responded well to Mumbai’s Sunburn festival entrepreneur, especially when he played a clip of his friend: cricket legend, Kapil Dev, who sent a message to the boys asking them to ‘enjoy their studies and not to be stressed or pressured’. The entire hall erupted into cheers when they heard Kapil’s message which had been recorded earlier in the day and played on a big screen to the students. (*see message below)
BCS Director announces further projects
BCS Director said ‘Shailendra must be one of the most well-connected people in India. His genuine kindness and his boundless energy made him a big hit with the boys. His refusal to turn down any challenge is an example to all of us. We are very grateful for his support and look forward to working with him on various exciting projects in the future’
Follow your dreams:
Shailendra’s own journey was inspirational to the boys as he told them he wasn’t very good at academics at school and wanted to play cricket for India, but found ways in which to overcome these problems. Shailendra’s encouraging words, certainly had everyone laughing as he kept the boys entertained with his story. His main message to the boys was to ‘dream big’, and not let anyone stand in your way or tell you that you can’t do something, especially as India is booming.
A big thank you also goes to Old Cottonian Mr Raman Khanna (Batch of 1967) for bringing in his friend to school to inspire the boys.
