In the bustling corridors of Shimla schools, an air of excitement and anticipation has been
filling the atmosphere as students have been gearing up for the annual Elocution
Extravaganza at Bishop Cotton School! In this grand spectacle of eloquence, young minds are
embarking on a captivating journey of self-discovery through the art of expression. Amidst
the vibrant chaos of rehearsals, students immerse themselves in the enchanting world of
poetry, prose, and drama. With wide-eyed enthusiasm, they unravel the timeless verses of
Frost, the enchanting tales of Dickens, and the gripping dialogues of Shakespeare, finding
inspiration in every word. Each day is a delightful adventure, as they hone their intonation,
perfect their gestures, and bring characters to life. The anticipation of the stage ignites an
electric fervour, propelling them to push boundaries and explore the depths of their
emotions. As the curtains draw near, hearts race with excitement, and dreams are woven into
the tapestry of every syllable spoken. The journey to the Elocution Competition is not just
about winning; it is about unlocking the magic within themselves and embracing the power
of words to captivate hearts and minds. With newfound courage and eloquence, these
students are ready to paint the stage with their brilliance, leaving the audience in awe and
sparking a fire of inspiration in every spectator’s soul.

Mr. B. L. Modi served as a teacher in Bishop Cotton School from October 1966 to July 1982.
He was the Head of Department for Mathematics. He was also Housemaster of Ibbetson
House. Mr. Modi was known for his punctuality and good turnout. He is very popular among
Old Cottonians and the Board of Governors of the school. His lessons in Geometry were very
well known and students had great regard for him. Mr. Modi, unfortunately, left us very
suddenly in 1982, but his great legacy of knowledge and dedication lives on in the school and
